With over 13,000 islands, Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world. In its forests, fauna and flora are incredibly rich, but, on certain islands, urbanization and the exploitation of trees for lumber lead to a slow disappearance of the forest. This deforestation inexorably undermines the country's great biodiversity, threatening its iconic wildlife. Comprised of nearly 900,000 hectares, the national park of Gunung Leuser is the last sanctuary for the last wild orangutans in the world, but the species is threatened by this loss of their habitat. A center has been created to collect orangutans threatened by humans or otherwise found in danger.
