Very early in its history, North America realized its rich biodiversity. In the American West, wildlife can still enjoy the vastness available to it. In the western United States, Yellowstone Park is the oldest of these parks. Coiled in the Rocky Mountains, it is a true encyclopedia of nature in the open air. This rich biodiversity attracts thousands of visitors, but a disease which has been eradicated elsewhere still rages among big herbivores of the park: brucellosis. Elk are the most sensitive. Man must intervene in this pristine environment. If there is an infected animal in the herd, scientists can anticipate its movements and prevent other herds from being contaminated. Here, Man acts only in the field and animals are never captured.
