Bel Coelho travels to the region of Petrolina, a parched land where advanced irrigation techniques have enabled the development of fruit and vegetable farming. All along the São Francisco River that crosses the region, she discovers the culinary traditions, culture and legends connected to that vital waterway.

After catching a 'carri '(a kind of rough-skinned catfish), Bel Coelho learns to cook it in the company of Juce, a well-known chef in the city. They also make a cactus dessert together. In the countryside near Petrolina, Bel Coelho visits the Boa Fruta farm, an imaginative, pioneering business that produces new varieties of fruits.
