Florianópolis, a center for tourism and fishing, is an island paradise linked to the coast by a suspension bridge. Bel Coelho’s stay there gives her an opportunity to enjoy delicious seafood dishes and learn to make them.

In a family restaurant, Bel Coelho prepares one of the island’s specialties: anchovies cooked in beans. Jaime, a chef famous all over Brazil for his oyster dishes, lets her in on his unique recipe, which uses brandy and ginger. After enjoying a lobster at the local market, Bel heads over to her friend Ruth’s house, where the two prepare a delicious dish: grouper rice.
